January 11, 2023 - My Favorite Comic

I don't usually read comics. This is because novels are more imaginative.
However, we often see Peanuts.

Peanuts began to be serialized in newspapers in 1950. Now translated into 21 languages in 75 countries, it is one of the world's favorite comics. Peanuts means "insignificant," and author Schulz hated the title.
Snoopy has been in the series from the beginning. However, he walked on four legs. And the other characters did not have strong individuality.

The first "Peanuts" daily comic strip from Oct. 2, 1950

Around 1960, the characters began to develop stronger personalities, such as Snoopy's sarcastic attitude toward Charlie Brown. From this time on, the design of the characters also approaches that we know of them.

"What people think makes them happy is totally different." It is so incredible that such a profound message is expressed in these 4 panels.

These profound messages are often famous on Twitter in Japan.

Besides learning about it in English class in junior high school, many people who use Twitter are probably familiar with Peanuts. That's how many influences the comic has had.
